Go Through Life As An Optimist And See Everyday Get Better
The other day I walked past my son, who was studying at the kitchen table. He had a science test coming up, so I asked him what grade he expected. I was very surprised at his answer.
He told me that of course he’d be getting an A, he expected nothing less. I thought that was great, his self-confidence and assurance. And then I started musing on this further.
I asked myself whether things were like that when I was young, and I remembered that they were for the most part. Remember back into childhood – didn’t we expect that things would always work out and that good things would happen for us? At some point along the path of growing up, many of us stopped believing in this. What happened?
I understand that life isn’t always a bed of roses. Things happen, and we stop having nave belief that all will be just fine. Still, there are some people who keep that optimism throughout their lifetimes.
You know what? Those same optimists have lives that seem to flow better than folks who are always complaining. I can’t help but wonder if there is a connection between expecting that things are going to work out for the best, and having better outcomes actually occur.
Try to copy these people for even just one day. Push yourself to be happy and to have positive expectations. At the end of the day, see how much better you feel than you normally would. Ask yourself also if you noticed more good things happening.
When you are thinking happy thoughts and you are optimistic, you are relaxed and you believe that it will all be ok. You should try this some time. Compare how you feel at the end of the day on an optimistic day with how you usually feel, and see if there isn’t a difference. You may decide to become an optimist full-time.
How did my son’s test go? He got an A+. I’m going to go ask him about how he focused on the best and achieved his goals. I promise I’ll share those tips with you another time.
