Dreams of falling are by far one of most common dreams we experience, yet is one of the most feared type of dream. This type of dream can be as simple as falling out of bed or it can be as extreme as falling from a building, mountain, ladder, cliff or out of a airplane with no parachute, to name just a few.

But regardless of the height you’re falling from in a dream, the encounter is generally terrifying for the dreamer, because of the complete lost of physical control the dreamer experiences in the dream that is often compounded by a sudden overwhelming fear of injured or hurt in the dream. As a result of this type of dream, the dreamer generally awakes in a hyperventilated state, filled with anxiety, sweating, struggling for breath and heart pounding as if it is about to pop out of their chest.

Most Often Causes Of Falling Dreams

Although there are hundreds of reasons why a person experiences dreams of falling, the most common are: guilt, fear of a situation, problem, crisis or dilemma the dreamer is experiencing in the natural when they have little or no control over or answers for. As a consequence, the individual often suffers feelings of helplessness physically, and emotionally both in the natural and in their dream states, thus opening the door to experiencing a falling dream or a dream of almost falling down.

As a rule, the extent of the depth of the falling dream is determined by the severity of the guilt, situation, problem, crisis or dilemma the dreamer is experiencing in the natural and in their awakened state.

Although Falling Dreams are most often the result of a loss of power, fear, guilt or no control, there is yet another factor that often plays into the psyche of the dreamer’s dream equation, and that is self punishment. It is not uncommon for a dreamer, because of a loss of power, control and guilt to subconsciously try to punish themselves in their dream state because they believe either consciously or subconsciously that they are responsible and should carry the blame of others for the events occurring in their lives.

Other Causes Of Falling Dreams

A rebellious attitude, fear, doubt, confusion, betrayal, deception, indecision and blindness to a truth make for propelling forces that have people falling in dreams. There also can be insecurity in a marriage, relationship, family member(s), career, workplace and finances.

In some cases, Falling Dreams will also be the result of an inferiority or inadequacy the dreamer has or feels he has in regards to the dreamer’s marriage, relationships, career or workplace that is causing the dreamer to feel he cannot measure up to the challenge he perceives is demanded of him.

Environment, emotions and circumstances can also cause dreams of falling because of shame, sorrow, lack of confidence, and lack of self pride the dreamer feels in himself in regards to his life and accomplishments. And because of these feelings of separation, disillusionment and discouragement, the dreamer feels that he is looked down on or is not or will not be included with others.

To the Christian, falling most often represents and is symbolic of sin, or a demonic attack and the scheme depicted in a falling dream regarding their finances, career, workplace or disappointment in a family member and the betrayal played out through others in the natural world.
