Why Staying Positive Is The Best Way To Go
Are you a pessimist or an optimist? I’m here to tell you that your outlook on life, and whether you choose to look at what you want to achieve or what you hope to avoid, definitely matters. We all of the ability to choose our outlook.
I’m here to share with you what I use when I am confronted with a difficult juncture in life. When I have to make that choice, to either be positive or negative about something, I remind myself of this saying that always helps me, and that has helped people I have trained and coached -
“Assume that things will work out, until it’s proven otherwise.”
If you run around constantly thinking about all of the negative things that could happen, and how your situation can’t possibly work out, you’ll probably steer your situation right into the negative outcome you are hoping to avoid. There’s a lot of truth to the term self-fulfilling prophecy.
It’s a basic premise but an important one. We tend to end up with what we spend our time and energies on. Since this is the case, why in the world would we waste time and work against our own best options by focusing on possible negatives? It makes so much more sense to be positive instead!
Please don’t misunderstand me, I’m not saying that everything will always work out in every instance. That’s silly and unrealistic. Still, even in the darkest days we can choose how we respond to our lives and our circumstances.
If you choose to think about what you’ll need to do to make your situation better, then you are not as stuck as if you just spend time thinking about how bad it all is. Don’t give up. If you stay in the game, things will turn around, especially if we focus on what we can do to help this happen.
It’s like driving a car – you will go where you are looking and steering toward. Use your thoughts and energy and effort to focus on the outcomes you desire, and this is a big step toward realizing those goals!
