People always say you can teach old dog new tricks but not so the cats whose owners still believe that however much they love the felines, it is normally next to impossible, trying to get them to learn anything. The truth is that, cats can actually be taught in many areas.

You will need to use the simple rules of behavioral training where by rewards and punishments are used either to reward the good behavior or to punish disobedience. So all it means is to reward the cat each time it obeys an instruction.

The next step would be to choose what you want to get the cat to do. If you want to be able to walk the cat on a leash for example, you would just go purchase a collar and put it by the cat’s bed.

It will soon get used to seeing that collar constantly, so the next thing is to put the collar around its head before you give it food. Next step follows when you start allowing it to remain with the collar on its neck for a few days. It will definitely get used to wearing it and so when the time comes for the walk, just slip a leash on the collar and voila, ready to go.

The next hard part of training is getting the cat to use the toilet. You would start with a litter box which you will put on the floor next to the toilet, then raise the toilet lid.

You would then use a pile of newspapers to move the litter box higher and higher till it reaches up to the toilet bowl.

You would need to keep the litter box in place by using a metal bowl for a while till the cat gets used to it, then just remove the box and the kitten will start using the toilet automatically.

All this calls for a lot of patience and is time consuming for it to succeed, but your rewards will follow when the cat begins to obey exactly as it is told.
